Teddy Bear Picnic - Park Play Session

See below for details on existing programs that are offered for our community and area.  Additional  courses occur based on interest and availability. Please call the Rec office for an update on course listings or if you would like to request a course.

Join us at the arena every Tuesday & Thursday between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for some skating.  This event is open to parents and their children.  The quieter ice session is encouraging to those children who are learning how to skate for the first time or building on their skating experience.  We encourage all children to have a helmet while on the ice.  This  program is drop in based and donations are accepted.

Given the community landscape and proximity to provincial parks there is a great interest in hunting.  Hunter Safety and PAL (Possession and Acquisition License) are two of the most popular courses that we offer.

Hunter Safety Course - Follow this link to Hunter Safety FAQ and information about online course options.  Please note you will be required to write the exam in an in class course at the successful completion of the online course.

Did you obtain your first hunting license after 1969? If so, you need to successfully complete an approved hunter safety education course before you can purchase a hunting permit in Manitoba.  The Recreation Department does offer in class courses in the fall and spring.  For course dates and to reserve your spot in a course please call the office at 204-937-8251.

PAL (Possession and Acquisition License) - Follow this link to information on the PAL course.  The Recreation Department also offers this course during the fall and spring.  Contact the office for course dates and to reserve your spot in a course.


All Adult Recreation activities are postponed until further notice.  We await the reopening on community use of schools which we rely on to provide these programs.  When we are able to bring these opportunities back for the community we will let you know!

Pickleball

One of the fastest growing sports in North America is Pickleball.  Pickleball is a paddle sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a Wiffle Ball, over a net.  It's lots of fun and any age and ability can play.     

Adult Slo Pitch League

A great way to enjoy the summer evening is out on the diamonds.  In Roblin we have 6 local teams that play in a non competitive league on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. All games take place in Currey Park.  For a complete schedule please click here.  

Annual Canada Day Tourney

Learn basic first aid skills today, and save a life tomorrow! Lifesaving Society First Aid and CPR training prepares both aquatic professionals and the general public with the skills and confidence for real emergencies. All courses include training and practice with Automated External Defibrillators (AED).

Our first aid programs are recognized by Manitoba Workplace Safety & Health. Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid certifications are valid for three years. Aquatic Emergency Care is valid for two years.

As a provider of Manitoba Lifesaving Society Programs we offer the following training and certifications for those looking to attain their first aid:

Emergency First Aid

The 8-hour Emergency First Aid course is for people who want a general knowledge of first aid principles and the emergency treatment of injuries. Skills include: victim assessment, rescue breathing, CPR, AED use, choking, respiratory and circulatory emergencies such as heart attack and stroke, bone & joint injuries, burns, poisonings, medical/legal aspects and how to deal with external bleeding. CPR-A is included.

Standard First Aid

The 16 hour Standard First Aid course provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid. It includes all of the content for Emergency first Aid and the following: spinal injuries, heat or cold injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and medical emergencies. CPR-C is included. 

Aquatic Emergency Care

This 24-hour course includes Standard First Aid plus an aquatic skills module. The aquatic skills include a shallow water rescue and aquatic spinal injury management. This course is ideal for lifeguards and other individuals who may need to apply first aid in an aquatic setting, such as front desk or maintenance workers in facilities with pools. CPR-C is included. 



CPR & AED Training

The Lifesaving Society offers all levels of CPR training, including CPR-A, CPR-C, and CPR for Health Care Providers (HCP). In every course, candidates learn about circulatory emergencies such as heart attacks and stroke. Hands-on practice ensures candidates leave feeling comfortable to perform CPR in case of an emergency.

Specialty First Aid Courses

The Lifesaving Society also offers Oxygen Administration training for first aid responders in workplaces that use supplemental oxygen as part of their emergency response.

Sand castle fun

This program offers a great way to visit the local parks within the town and have fun while doing so.  Starting in July there are weekly parks chosen as play sites for a morning from 10 a.m. until Noon.  This program is open to participants 10 and under with the supervision of an adult.  Summer park play leaders are on site to host activities and bring along a collection of games, toys, crafts and activities to keep little ones busy and enjoying the park.

Some themes and activities include - Reading, Motion Zones, Teddy Bear Picnic, Music & Movement, Kid's Yoga and much more.  So much fun for everyone and a nice way to showcase our amazing play parks within the community.

The Roblin Leisure Aquatic Centre will remain closed for the 2020 Season based on COVID-19

For those individuals that wish to pursue further swimming skills and develop into a certified lifeguard the Aquatic Centre hosts advance training courses throughout the season.  

Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles that make up the four components of water rescue – judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers learn to respond to increasingly complex situations involving conscious and unconscious victims in contact and non-contact rescues. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance with a timed swim.

  • Prerequisite: Bronze Star or 13-years-old by exam day
  • Course Length: 25 hours
  • Textbook: Canadian Lifesaving Manual

Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross teaches the difference between lifesaving and lifeguarding, the principles of emergency procedures, and teamwork. Lifesavers learn the skills involved in the rescue of a victim with a spinal injury, the rescue of a pulseless victim, and the rescue of a victim with deteriorating circumstances.

Bronze Cross is a prerequisite to National Lifeguard. Bronze Cross is the stepping stone for all of the Society’s advanced training programs in lifesaving, lifeguarding and leadership.

National Lifeguard is the industry standard for professional lifeguards in Canada.

National Lifeguard training develops a sound understanding of lifeguarding principles, good judgment, and a mature and responsible attitude towards the lifeguard’s role. National Lifeguard training emphasizes prevention and effective rescue response in emergencies including first aid treatment. The Lifesaving Society trains all of Canada’s National Lifeguards.

Prerequisites: minimum 16 years of age by date of exam, Bronze Cross, and Standard First Aid* or Aquatic Emergency Care.

The Aquatic Centre is a seasonal pool that operates June - August each year.  The facility offers Red Cross Swimming lessons starting with the Preschool kids for those children 4 months old until 5 years.  After the Preschool levels participants  then progresses to Swim Kids level 1 - 10.

Aquasize is an impact-free exercise class which improves strength, flexibility and endurance.  It incorporates the use of pool noodles and foam dumbbells.   The exercises are performed in shallow & deep water.  All movements are done completely in the water - your feet (ideally) never touch the ground and your hands and arms never leave the water - the only thing out of the water is your head!

This workout is extremely JOINT-FRIENDLY and is ideal for people with arthritis, back and knee problems, and people recovering from accident or injury. It is self-regulating: you determine the intensity - anywhere from light to strenuous.
