Reminder Regarding Burning Permits

Burning permits are required for any open-air burning within the Municipality. Open-air burning is NOT permitted on properties located within subdivisions or the urban areas.

Permits are free of charge and can be obtained from the Municipal Office.

All permit holders must strictly comply with the conditions of their permit and all applicable regulations. This includes ensuring proper supervision, having adequate fire suppression equipment on site, and only burning approved materials.

Any person located within 3 miles (4.8 km) of a Provincial Park or Community Pasture must first obtain a Provincial Burning Permit in accordance with The Wildfires Act and applicable regulations, and shall provide a copy of such permit to the Municipal Office prior to the issuance of any Municipal Burning Permit.

Failure to obtain a permit, or failure to comply with permit conditions, may result in:

• Issuance of fines under the applicable by-laws; and Full recovery of Fire Department response costs, including equipment, personnel, and any associated expenses.

If it's not safe, not permitted, or not controlled - don't burn it.
