Situation Report - 07-03/2026 23:50 hrs

Administrative Operations

- Administrative staff continue working around the clock to monitor changing conditions, coordinate resources, and support emergency response operations.

Urban Operations
  • The Goose Lake pump has been repaired and returned to service.
  • An existing 6-inch pump will be relocated to St. Vlads to increase pumping capacity in that area.
  • An additional lagoon pump is expected to arrive tomorrow and will be installed at Goose Lake, bringing the total number of pumps operating there to three.
  • Pumping operations at West Goose Lake continue, with a second pump expected to be installed tomorrow. Water levels continue to be maintained.
  • Significant progress continues at St. Vlads, with water levels steadily improving.
  • Crews continue to make steady progress on 6th Avenue, with work advancing well.
  • The Roblin Fire Department established high-volume pumping operations on 6th Avenue NW this morning, pumping west along Peat Street toward Highway 5. Water levels have been reduced by approximately 12 to 14 inches. High-volume pumping concluded at approximately 9:00 p.m. after reaching a point where the permanent pumping system could take over. Operations will resume shortly after 8:00 a.m. tomorrow to confirm the permanent system can maintain the reduced water levels.
  • Residents are still asked to reduce unnecessary water use wherever possible to help lessen the load on the wastewater system.

Rural Operations
  • The new access road into the Makaroff area is now open for emergency vehicles only.
  • Crews will continue widening and strengthening the road tonight and tomorrow. If conditions allow and Merridale Road remains suitable for heavy trucks, gravelling is expected to begin on Sunday.
  • Once the temporary road has been widened, based, and signed, it will be opened to local traffic.
  • Beginning tomorrow, crews will begin opening additional drainage channels to further reduce water levels. This work will involve excavators and dozers.
  • Once access is restored to the Merridale Road gravel pits, crews will begin hauling gravel for repairs to additional municipal roads. Further updates will be provided as work progresses.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

- Please continue to reduce water use as much as possible. While water remains available for essential household purposes, every litre you can save helps reduce the strain on our wastewater system. If it can wait, please let it wait.
- Stay clear of heavy equipment and semi-trucks operating throughout Town. Our crews and contractors need room to work safely and efficiently. Please do not stop or park near active work sites.

- Avoid unnecessary travel on municipal roads. Rural road conditions continue to change hour by hour. Due to the rapidly changing conditions and limited resources, not every hazard or closure can be signed immediately. If you absolutely must travel, slow down, stay alert, and never assume a road is safe simply because it is open.
- Please do not travel to flooding areas just to have a look. We understand people are curious; however, extra traffic creates unnecessary hazards and slows emergency operations. Giving crews space to work helps everyone.
- Barricades are there for a reason. Do not move, remove, or drive around barricades. They are placed to protect you, even if the road appears passable.
- Stay out of floodwater. Water may be deeper than it appears, roads can be washed out underneath, and moving water is stronger than it looks.
- Watch for emergency vehicles. Fire, Public Works, contractors, and heavy equipment are operating throughout the Municipality at all hours. Expect delays and be prepared to yield.
- Be patient. We understand everyone wants their road reopened or water removed first. Crews are prioritizing work based on public safety, protection of critical infrastructure, emergency access, and where efforts will have the greatest impact.
